Proscaline

Proscaline is a synthetic phenethylamine that is structurally similar to mescaline. The synthesis of proscaline was first published in 1977 by David E. Nichols. Proscaline, or 3,5-dimethoxy-4-propyloxyphenethylamine, is a substituted phenethylamine featuring a phenyl ring bound to an amino -NH2 group through an ethyl chain. Proscaline contains two methoxy functional groups CH3O- which are attached to carbons R3 and R5 as well as an additional propyloxy group at carbon R4 of the phenyl ring. Proscaline is the 4-propyloxy analog of mescaline, which means it has one additional carbon at the alkyloxy group than escaline, another closely related mescaline analog.

IUPAC: 2-(3,5-dimethoxy-4-propoxyphenyl)ethanamine
